On The Road Again

It’s that time again...we (Quilted Quickies) are on the road again...vending at quilt shows. We went to Sierra Vista Arizona this last weekend and had a blast...seeing quilting friends and chatting about quilt projects in the works and selling lots of our new kits. Thanks to Ruth, Pauline, Lynn and all the ladies who helped us truck in our stuff!! You are all so sweet and we love your show!! Thanks so much for taking such good care of us.
We are headed to Pomona California tomorrow for the Quilt, Craft, & Sew Expo put on by Rusty Barn (our favorite shows...the guys that run these shows are the best!!! Other shows could learn a lot from these guys on how to treat your vendors). Anyway, we will be at the Fairplex in Pomona for a beautiful show. Love California...I was born in California, so any excuse  to visit is awesome for me.
After Pomona, we are back to Arizona and do a quilt show in Mesa put on by the Arizona Quilter’s Guild that will be held at the Mesa Convention Center.
Then we are home for a bit.
Bad thing is that little Miss Gidget will has been and will have to stay again with her babysitter (Nancy-wonderful lady!!). This is much harder on me than it is for Gidget...I think. I pout tons when I’m away from Gidget...so needless to say I’ll be glad when I get back from this stint...I love seeing all the quilters and bringing them lots of pretties...but I sure do miss my little girl. OK...enough boo-hooing.
We will be doing a blog post when we get back and talk about our best sellers and have to include another giveaway...so stay tuned!!

Take a Peek

I have been blessed again to be featured in McCall’s Quick Quilts magazine, April/May 2010 issue. This is a “Layer Cake” friendly design or a great way use up pieces in your stash!
I originally named this design, “Square Dance” but McCall’s renamed it “Mom’s Bouquet”. The beautiful fabrics I used are from Moda called “Eden” designed by Lila Tueller.
This is a super fast project and can be cut and sewn up in a day...REALLY! We have made up this quilt in several different fabric lines and it looks great with any fabric. Hopefully you have a subscription to McCall’s Quick Quilts but if not, this issue should be on newsstands now.

I want to thank my staff as well...Donna, thank you so much for being my “sewing angel” and always there to sew up the things I can never get to. And Janet, thank you for your beautiful machine quilting! These two ladies are the backbone of my business!!! Also a big thank you to Beth at McCall’s!
If you happen to make this quilt, please send us a photo of you and “Mom’s Bouquet” / “Square Dance” to quiltedquickies@me.com. I’d like to feature you on my blog and also Gidget will send you a quilting gift from my quilt shop. This offer is good through the end of July 2010.

Just a Little Freebie from the Southwest

Thought I’d share a freebie, “Crown of Thorns” table runner pattern on our web site. It was our Shop Hop block in 2009 and we made the block into a little table runner pattern for our customers.
We had some kits left over from our shop hop and took them to a few quilt shows where we vend and the kits sold like hot cakes. So, I decided to blog about the free pattern on our web site and share it with you since so many people enjoyed the leftover kits.
So dig into your stash for this striking little ditty. We did ours in Batiks and also a black, white and red version as well.

Everyone's a Winner!

Good Morning...beautiful day here! Crisp 60 degrees.
Gidget went out this morning and picked the winner of the “Gidget Gobbles” Giveaway! I placed the names on little pieces of paper and placed a “Gidget Gobble” on each of the pieces of paper and made Gidget sit until I said, “OK...GO!!” The first Gidget Gobble she picked would be the BIG winner!

However, since there were only (3) entries (between both of our blogs-blogspot and iweb), Gidget and I decided that EVERYONE WHO ENTERED WINS! The big winner is “Quilter Jan” but there are goodies for “Vicky of LA Quilter” and “Jill of Ramblings of a Fabric Obsessor” as well! So, “Gidget Gobbles” and other quilting goodies all around! I’ll be contacting you all soon for your addresses...so we can get your prizes out to you. Congrats!!!
Have a wonderful day all!!
Not Gidget but still a Cutie!!

"Gidget Gobbles" Giveaway!

We’ve been busy vending at a quilt show in Tucson and headed to another quilt show in Phoenix but wanted to stop by to say “Hi” in a quite moment.
Janet, my shop manager, has come up with the cutest doggie gift! She’s totally an “IDEA” person. I love her...she keeps me on my toes. Janet loves to bake and makes the best goodies and shares them with everyone. Well, she always thinking of others and since Gidget is our shop mascot, Janet thought it would be nice to whip up a little something for the little Queen. I just thought this was so cute with Janet’s original drawing inspired by a photo of Gidget when in Texas.
Janet came up with “Gidget Gobbles”. These treats look like little croutons but have a BIG flavor. All natural ingredients: wheat, corn, beef broth, and a pinch of salt. These treats have been Gidget tested and Gidget approved! Another box is being sent to my Mom’s doggies...Casey and Max!
Soooooo...Gidget wants to do a little doggie giveaway. If you are interested in receiving some “Gidget Gobbles” for your doggie, just leave a comment here on this blog entry for Gidget and the reason why your little baby would like to nibble on some of these delicious treats. Gidget will also include a gift for you, the owner, too...a little quilting something...so be sure to log your comment.
The drawing will be on Feb 1st! Good Luck to the doggie(s) and owner!

Quilts From The Heart

When I first started designing and went to my first quilt market in Houston, I had a five year goal and that was to be featured in my favorite quilt magazine, “McCall’s Quick Quilts”. I thought my simple and fast quilt designs might be a good match with their magazine. I trotted over to the McCall’s booth and left my card with someone so that they MIGHT pass it along to the Editor-in Chief. I had a great market and made so many great new contacts! The last day of market can be pretty slow as some of you may know...so I was hanging out in my booth thinking of some new designs for the next market and looked up and saw this beautiful lady dressed very sharp and she seemed to be looking for someone’s booth...I asked, “Can I help you find a booth number?” This lady looked at me and looked up at my booth banner and said, “Are you Jere’e with Quilted Quickies?” Remember...this was my first market and didn’t think anyone could possibly be looking for ME. Well...it was Beth Hayes looking for ME!!! Long story short...she was interested in my designs for their magazine! So this 5 year goal that I had came true at my very first quilt market! Needless to say I felt so blessed and have been designing for Quick Quilts ever since. Thank you Beth for giving me a chance! I’ve been so very lucky to grace a couple covers too! July 2006 with a flip flop design and March 2009 with a cupcake design.

Well, now Quilted Quickies (me) is featured not just once but twice in McCall’s Quilting Special Issue of “America Makes Quilts From The Heart” Winter 2009/2010 issue. My “Hey Cupcake” and “Little Buddies” designs can be found in this fun issue. Dog owners...be sure to check out the link below for a free recipe for “Doggie Delights” dog treats!

Be sure to pick up your issue of “America Makes Quilts From The Heart” on newsstands today or purchase a copy via McCall’s web site. This issue has lots of pretty quilts and features Pat Sloan and Lissa Alexander...two of my favorites!

Again, thank you to Beth, McCall’s and to all my wonderful customers who follow me to shows, in magazines, and visit our quilt shop in Arizona.
